4 Great Natural Wine Bars in São Paulo Serving Wine By the Glass (2026)

Tap a pin to open the venue. Gold pins are Exceptional venues.

Natural wine in São Paulo isn’t confined to one kind of room. Some of the city’s best pours come from small, grower-led bars where skin-contact whites, pét-nats and biodynamic reds are the whole point. Others turn up in places you might not expect: a museum restaurant on Avenida Paulista, a candlelit courtyard grill in Pinheiros, or a self-pour wine bar where a Georgian qvevri white sits a few machines along from Barolo.

These four venues cover that range. At one end is a tiny Sumarezinho bar whose list is built almost entirely around natural, biodynamic and low-intervention producers. At the other is a wide, classic-led list that has made genuine room for natural wine alongside the benchmarks. Each pours at least five natural wines by the glass, so you can drink as naturally, or as classically, as the evening calls for.

Bardega Wine Bar — Wine Bar in São Paulo
Exceptional Rating

Bardega Wine Bar

Wine Bar · R. Dr. Alceu de Campos Rodrigues, 218 - Vila Nova Conceição, São Paulo - SP, 04544-000

Self-service is the whole idea at Bardega, which bills itself as Brazil's first wine bar and sits on a quiet street where Itaim Bibi meets Vila Nova Conceição. Guests collect a card on arrival, slot it into the dispensing machines that line the room and choose a 30ml taste, a 60ml half-glass or a full 120ml pour, with sommeliers circulating to help. Nearly a hundred labels are open at once, so a single evening can run from Alsace Riesling and Champagne to Barolo, Rhône Syrah, Ribera del Duero and a glass of Port to finish. Natural, orange and pét-nat bottles sit beside the classics, and the New World is well represented by Argentina, Chile, California and South Africa. The small pours keep prices modest, which rewards curiosity. It is the São Paulo address for comparing two Pinot Noirs side by side.

Gnomo — Restaurant in São Paulo
Outstanding Rating

Gnomo

Restaurant · R. Rodesia, 206 - Sumarezinho, São Paulo - SP, 05435-020

On a leafy corner of Sumarezinho, where it shades into Vila Madalena, Gnomo is the small wine-bar sibling of Nomo, the restaurant next door on Rua Harmonia. Sommelier Patrícia Werneck, co-owner of both, built the list, and it leans firmly towards natural, biodynamic and low-intervention bottles from small growers, with sparkling, white, orange and red all represented. The glass selection is generous for a room this size, and the menu notes are written with a wink, which makes lining up two or three pours side by side feel like play rather than homework. Chef Nando Carneiro sends over snacks built to sit beside them. There are only a handful of stools indoors. On warm evenings the crowd drifts onto the tree-lined pavement, glass in hand, and that is exactly the idea. Every visit seems to turn up a new producer.

Balaio IMS — Restaurant in São Paulo
Excellent Rating

Balaio IMS

Restaurant · Av. Paulista, 2424 - Bela Vista, São Paulo - SP, 01310-300

On Avenida Paulista, at the Bela Vista edge of Jardins, Balaio sits inside the Instituto Moreira Salles cultural centre. Chef Rodrigo Oliveira, of Mocotó fame, uses the kitchen to travel Brazil state by state, reworking regional dishes such as dadinhos de tapioca and pork ribs glazed with guava barbecue sauce. The wine list follows the same instinct for origin and producer. Low-intervention, organic and biodynamic bottles lead, and the by-the-glass selection is unusually well balanced: two Amazonian sparkling wines, ten whites, four orange, two rosés and twelve reds, with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Portuguese bottles among them. Pair a glass with an exhibition upstairs. This is a museum restaurant that takes its wine seriously.

Chou — Restaurant in São Paulo
Excellent Rating

Chou

Restaurant · R. Mateus Grou, 345 - Pinheiros, São Paulo - SP, 05415-050

Two blocks from the bustle of Rua dos Pinheiros, Chou occupies a small house whose real asset is the courtyard behind it: plants, trees, strings of little lights and a herb garden scenting the air. It has been part of the neighbourhood for more than fifteen years, and chef Gabriela Barretto's kitchen opens for dinner only. The grill sits at the centre of her kitchen, turning out the day's fish with harissa or aged rib-eye with chimichurri, while mezze-style small plates are designed for sharing. Wine has always been the first drink here, and the list is chosen by a sommelier with the same care as the produce. Its sympathies lie with organic, biodynamic, natural and low-intervention growers, so smoky, charred flavours meet bright, lively bottles. It suits a slow, candlelit evening for two or a table of friends. The garden does the rest.
