Supernormal is a beautifully executed and slick venue in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. You’ll find plenty of Chinese influence on the menu – an echo of McConnell’s time spent living and working in Shanghai and Hong Kong. There are plenty of Korean and Japanese flavours shining through too.

With over 350 bottles, we emphasise wine styles that are appropriate for the aromas and textures of Asian-inspired dishes. We celebrate the fantastic range of local wine and spirit producers here in Australia and explore the world of wine in Europe and beyond.

2023 Thorne & Daughters 'Rocking Horse' Roussanne blend, Multi-Regional RSA

The value and quality emerging from South Africa is truly outstanding. Rocking Horse is composed from a number of carefully selected vineyard sites in the Western Cape. A blend of Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Sémillon and Clairette Blanche, this is layered and has lovely tension with aromas of flint, peach and jasmine. The palate follows with gentle tropical notes, vanilla and yuzu on a tightly coiled finish.

I started in restaurants in my early twenties where I spent several years moving up the ranks to server and eventually into management. It wasn't until my move to Supernormal some 6+ years ago where I truly decided to pursue a career in wine. I run the beverage program in one of Melbourne’s most dynamic restaurants with a strong, ambitious team of Sommeliers who I am proud to call my colleagues.
