Step off the bustling thoroughfare of King Street, ascend through Odd Culture, and you'll find yourself in the intimate confines of Bistro Grenier; where the classical tropes of French cuisine are playfully re-imagined. Our wine bar downstairs is a more casual affair channeling the laid-back and always welcoming energy of top European natural wine shops.

~30 by the glass pours. Unapologetically French, championing the all-time greats and the underappreciated, esoteric regions of the world. A deep cellar packed with rare gems and an extensive back vintage selection, also on pour, a curio for the inner west. An ethos built on organic and regenerative farming, minimal intervention and hands-off winemaking for an expression of terroir, time and place.

2016 Catherine Bernard La Carbonelle

A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Marselan from a single plot in Hérault, France, organically grown on clay-limestone soils with pebbles, south-facing. Incredibly elegant and perfumed, a wonderful interplay of red fruits, graphite and Mediterranean scrubland. Silky smooth, singing, and in a lovely spot at almost ten years old - fresh as a daisy.

Quickly becoming recognised as one of the top producers in the region, a leading light of the 'south', incredibly nuanced with purity, tension and detail in spades. Punches well above its weight (and label).
