Kaizen at Go Vino

Rating 1

EXCELLENT: Over 20 wines by-the-glass

Experience: Relaxed & Social

Specialist in: New Zealand | Off-the-beaten-track | Other | International

Kaizen in Japanese, means "change for the better". It’s a philosophy of continually making small improvements that over time create a substantial positive change but is also a combination of the word Kai, the Maori/NZ word for food and Zen, a philosophy of enjoying the moment. We develop and improve our dishes seasonally and we also try to apply the Kaizen philosophy to all aspects of the business

We currently have 28 - 35 amazing wines by the glass covering 20 different grape varieties. Featuring wines from New Zealand, Australia, the Americas and from Europe. The range is wide with most quality first pours at $17 to the 2019 Te Mata Coleraine at $100/glass

GLASS HIGHLIGHTS

Subject to availability*

Vergence White Pegasus Bay MK3

An amazing blend of five multi‑vintage white wines. Aged Semillon leads the profile, while the nuances of the other components create a layered, complex wine that pairs perfectly with the eclectic cuisine of Kaizen.

Hans Herzog Spirit of Marlborough 2017

An exceptional New Zealand red. Herzog only releases this wine when it is truly ready to drink, adding the most important ingredient — time. Perfect to enjoy toward the end of your meal, or simply to savour on its own.

Ryan Laird

Ryan is the owner, sommelier, and occasional dishwasher at Kaizen. After six years travelling the world, he returned to his hometown of Hamilton and opened a modern wine shop. Over the next 24 years, that little shop evolved into what is now Kaizen — a restaurant and wine bar in the coastal town of Cooks Beach.
